ALICE IN CHAINS Singer Has 'Great' TV Show Idea
September 21, 2016According to The Pulse Of Radio, ALICE IN CHAINS singer and guitarist William DuVall told Boston radio station WAAF that he has a concept for a TV series that he pitched last year to several networks. The show would feature him as the host, with DuVall even shooting a pilot that contained guest appearances from GUNS N' ROSES bassist Duff McKagan, METALLICA drummer Lars Ulrich, and JANE'S ADDICTION guitarist Dave Navarro.
DuVall explained: "I actually created a show last year that I think is gold. I shot basically like a teaser, and I got a lot of my friends and peers to do cameos for the teaser. I just thought, this is a shoo-in, and we took it around to different networks, and they weren't quite ready for it. For some of the more, shall we say, 'well-known' networks that deal in this area, their actual words about me were: 'He's a bit too cool.'"
DuVall added: "I was really quite taken aback by that. I guess I'm not screaming at the camera the whole time and putting on a clown show. I don't know what they want. Maybe they want more of a game-show-host kind of thing. I still think that show is valid and killer… I still think it's a great idea, so I haven't given up on that."
DuVall also recently revealed that he's been working on two documentaries, one a look at the Atlanta hardcore punk scene that he came out, and the other a film about the life of jazz musician Milford Graves.
ALICE IN CHAINS, who opened the first five shows on GUNS N' ROSES' summer North American stadium tour, is now on a headlining trek that brings the group to Thackerville, Oklahoma on Friday (September 23).
Although it was reported earlier this year that ALICE IN CHAINS was working on a follow-up to its 2013 album, "The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here", DuVall recently said it was "too early" for the band to be recording new music and that those discussions would begin in the fall.
